Isokern fireplace systems combine the durability of masonry construction with the ease of installation and some of the cost savings of prefabricated fireplaces. They are manufactured with volcanic pumice stone found only in Iceland’s Mt. Heckle because of its natural, lightweight, fire-resistant properties. Using an 80-year-old Danish technology and refined by Earthcore, Isokern Fireplaces are refractive and highly insulating.
Isokern systems can be installed indoors or outdoors and are available in a variety of sizes and fuel types. Wood or gas-burning fireboxes are available.
The wood-burning models can incorporate Isokern chimney systems made from the same pumice stone material, or it can use a double-wall air-cooled metal chimney which is sold and installed by our sister company, Foster-Taylor Fireplaces. The gas-burning models require either b-vent or direct-vent metal chimneys which are sold and installed by Foster-Taylor Fireplaces.
