A New Luxury Steakhouse In Metairie
There are plans in the works for redeveloping Andrea’s in Metairie into a new Italian restaurant. Anthony “A.P.” Marullo III is a real estate developer that not only has this project underway but also a new high-end steakhouse with a patio overlooking Veterans Boulevard.
The new steakhouse will be the second Marullo’s Steakhouse and is slated to open this June. The location was a former Mellow Mushroom but will now be the steakhouse, large event space and banquet space. The open-air deck will be converted into a bourbon lounge space with retractable glass walls.
“The idea is to bring luxury and thoughtful food, and to be able to find it in Metairie. It’s creating a place for people to gather, whether on the way home or in their neighborhood,” says Gottlieb.
Although this is the second location, this steakhouse will have a different vibe from the original. This location will serve high-end cuts of beef, sushi and hibachi. The hibachi tables will be in private dining rooms and will serve wagyu beef, seafood and other dishes. The rooms will only be reserved for private books of up to fourteen patrons.
“I think we’re giving Metairie something it does not have by combining the two. It’s not really fusion, it’s more about presenting Gulf seafood in a way that’s different from the way everyone else is doing it,” Gottlieb said.
The bourbon lounge will work as a member-only club where bourbon enthusiasts can come and enjoy the atmosphere and drink. The drinks will be mostly from Sazerac Co., owned by Bill Goldring.
“And that’s out of respect to Bill Goldring, a real legend and a local hero in the bourbon world,” Gottlieb praises.
The event and banquet space will be called Barbara’s Place which is named after Gottlieb’s mother. There will also be a private event space at Marullo’s new Italian spot as well. This means there will be a good deal of private event space under the one company in Metairie. Each space will complement the other and be used for different-sized parties and different types of events.
” I think that speaks to the market: There’s major demand for private event space with parking in Metairie. We feel the demand is there,” Marrullo said.
