Enclosing Your Crawl Space
A crawl space is not a place you think about for storing nice things, but it can be if it is encapsulated. Professionals in the industry say this is not only a great storage addition but it does add value to your home. Jeff Barnett who is a property investor can attest to this.
Barnett did an overhaul on a home taking out everything including plumbing, electrical, roof and even the home’s foundation. “A full gut job – down to the studs. We replaced everything but the initial framing,” says Barnett.
When it came to the crawl space, he wanted to enclose the space and make it a nicer area. “I really wanted to kick things up a notch in every area. The crawl space was one of those things I hadn’t messed with before, but I had seen where people had encapsulated them,” remarks Barnett.
Since Barnett was doing the work on his own, he chose to use a StegoCrawl Crawl Space Encapsulation System. It was an easy installation due to the fact that StegoCrawl has online resources and videos to help with installation. It was a task but he was able to complete the job from start to finish himself.
“It wasn’t until I closed the vents that I realized that this was a conditioned space,” commented Barrett.
When Barrett went to list his property for sale, he added the encapsulated crawl space in the description. When potential buyers came to look at the house, they were amazed!
“They were blown away about how it looked down there. One potential client was asking about extra closet and storage space, and we pointed out the entire bottom of the house,” said Barrett.
