Hogs for the Cause Breaks Records This Year
This year’s Hogs for the Cause had a big turnout at the UNO Lakefront Arena. The patrons were read to eat barbeque, drink, and dance. The NOLA crowd was great with their generosity and service to others.
There were ninety cook-off teams at the event. The event raised around $2.6 million for children fighting brain cancer. They help support families with kids that have been diagnosed with pediatric brain cancer. The organization has helped many nationally since 2009.
Here are the categories and the winners in each category for this year. Hog Addiction won the Children’s Hospital New Orleans Grand Champion, the Whole Hog presented by Gulf Coast Bank & Trust and Pork Butt/Shoulder, Emmylou’s won Ribs, Hoggystyle won Porkpourri, Swine Spectators won Best Sauce, House of Hogs won Blue Plate Mayonnaise Best Side and Best Booth, Crazy Jeff’s BBQ Bungalow won Irpino Avin Hawkins Best Bacon, River Pork Pilots won “Just Winging It” presented by Tabasco, The Boars Nest won Friday Night Party, Louisiana Tourism Fan Favorite won Mr. Pigglesworth, PigLIT won Best Social Media, and Fleur de Que won Fundraising Champion. The 2022 Hog of Fame inductees included Bobby Hawkins of Mr. Pig Stuff; Adam Avin of Mr. Pig Stuff; Robby Moss of Fleur De Que; Mike Centola of Rugaroux Q; Dan Sanders of DeSwine Intervention; Anthony DiBernardo of Morten Andersen’s Mullets; Aaron Siegel of Morten Andersen’s Mullets; and Kelsey Brehm, a Hogs for the Cause staff member).
