Transform Your Backyard or Patio With Fire Glass
This simple touch to your outdoor firepit or fireplace can transform your backyard or patio. Fire glass is also known as fire pit glass or fireplace glass and can be used both indoors and outdoors. It not only can be used as a fire media but also in landscaping, aquariums and art projects.
Fire glass is constructed out of tempered glass and will not emit harmful chemicals, smoke, soot, or ash. It is produced in a way that it can hold up to harsh weather and extreme temperatures and not lose its lust and color. It is low maintenance and can be cleaned with a 50:50 water and vinegar mix.
A beautiful and practical medium for many decorating projects, fire glass can also cover pies or tubes that are visible in your fireplace or firepit. If you want to do this professionals recommend covering your entire burner and then adding around half an inch of fire glass on top of what you have already covered.
Whether you want a traditional look or a modern look, there are many options to choose from. American Fire Glass manufactures nine different types of fire glass which all come in different sizes, shapes and colors and are great additions to not only fireplaces or firepits but also for decorating indoors and outdoors, aquariums, landscaping and craft & art projects. The following are the fire media that is offered.
Quarter-Inch Premium Fire Glass
The quarter-inch premium fire glass comes in tons of colors. Some of the more popular colors to choose from are azuria, bronze, champagne, cobalt, copper, evergreen, gold, gray, pacific blue and platinum. These colors shine through under the flams both day and night. The glass is made to shine through the delicate shining process which gives each piece a flat reflective side.
Half-Inch Premium Fire Glass
The half-inch premium fire glass also comes in a wide variety of colors such as azuria, black, cobalt, evergreen, gold, gray, pacific blue and starfire. Both the half-inch and the quarter-inch have a smooth flat surface that acts as a mirror to reflect the beautiful colors. The half-inch however is a better choice when using propane because it is thicking and will allow the propane to flow easier and last longer.
Quarter-Inch & Half Inch Classic Fire Glass
The classic fire glass works very similar to the premium but has a different look. The classic fire glass is not as reflective, instead, it absorbs the light. Even though it is not as reflective, it still looks beautiful when illuminated. You can choose the classic glass in azuria, black, bronze, clear, cobalt, copper, gray, pacific blue and starfire.
Pre-Mixed Fire Glass
If you like more of a variety all at once, then the pre-mixed fire glass is perfect for you. It comes in several colors of hand-mixed fire glass including Bali, Bora Bora, Las Vegas, Maui Breeze, Yosemite and Zion. This fire glass is a half-inch in size and is made up of reflective, premium tempered glass.
Fire Glass 2.0®
This is American Fire Glass’ newest product. It is cubed-shaped with straight lines and a luster coating. This media has an iridescent aspect because it is reflective on more sides than most fire glass. The unique cube shape gives you an extra-reflective touch. There are several colors to choose from including black, bronze, copper, pacific blue and starfire.
Fire Pit Glass
Fire pit glass is composed of reprocessed glass and comes in auburn, dark blue, ice, light blue, onyx and turquoise. This unique fire glass varies in size and shape. This recycled fire pit glass is great for landscaping instead of using rocks, grass, or wood chips.
Fire Beads
Fire beads are a nice choice and are the first uniquely shaped fire glass American Fire Glass produced. The fire beads give off a semi-glossy look when illuminated due to a luster coating. These are the most smooth and round shapes of fire glass on the market. They come in aqua blue, carmel, glacier ice, royal blue and twilight. These are perfect to use for craft and art projects.
Zircon Fire Glass
This type of fire glass is also great for art projects or house decor. Zircon fire glass comes in several colors including black diamond, midnight blue, powder blue and raindrop. The shape of the glass resembles a jewel or a diamond. Each piece is around one inch in size and is completely smooth on all sides. Like the Fire Glass 2.0 and Fire Beads, the Zircon fire glass has a luster coating that gives off the reflective look.
With so many options, styles and colors, the choice seems unlimited. A professional in the industry can help you with the perfect choice. They can also help you determine how much fire glass you will need for each project and which type is best to suit your need.
