Top Four Home Design Trends For 2023

Acme Brick will tell you what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to designing a home in 2023. For the list, the company collects data from professionals in the industry such as architects, interior designers, home builders, social media influencers and the media. Here are the top four home design trends for 2023.

Biophilic Design

A term coined by professionals in the industry, this basically means bringing the outdoors in. “Biophilic design means using natural resources to create a sense of harmony between modern architecture and the natural world. Biophilic design is the practice of creating a closer connection to nature through the ways buildings and landscapes are created and built,” according to Amanda Sturgeon, author of Creating Biophilic Buildings. This trend will be seen in 2023 through natural lighting, a blend of outdoor colors indoors and indoor plants.

Curve Appeal

Art Deco that was popular in the 1920s and 1930s is making a comeback. Decorative and ornate styles are coming back and designers are starting to shy away from the minimalist look. “Art Deco interiors used scallop shapes extensively. Across cultures and eras, curves and circles in art and design suggest such hard-to-argue-with concepts as infinity, serenity, and perfection. Curves are also associated with femininity, softness and calm, and these values would be especially welcome after the horrific losses of World War I…. or during the tumultuous times we are living through today,” reports The Wall Street Journal.

Sustainability

This trend has been on the rise for the past several years and will only accelerate in 2023. Green homes and eco-friendly materials are sustainable. Green Building & Design magazine states, “Designers are experimenting with materials, old and new, to create innovative sustainable interior design products….using different techniques-from 3D printing to hand-weaving.” These trends will be seen through the Bolgatanga lamp collection, to Hidee vases and the Aurea dining table.

Flooring

Designers and homeowners alike are moving to floor alternatives due to supply chain issues and sustainability. Engineered flooring is very popular and can fit with most any budget. Vinyl flooring has come a long way! Gracie Andraos, director of design at HKS says, “Designers and architects are looking for alternatives to fit the budget and timeline. That has been especially challenging with supply chain issues. The boards come pre-stained and can be glued or locked into place.”
